With first place in the league on the line in Portage last night the Islanders came up with a big 6-3 victory over the Carman Beavers.

The teams second leading scorer Brett Brooks started the goal parade just over 5 minutes into the game and the club never looked back. They added two more in the opening frame and built up a 5-0 lead before Carman finally hit the board scoring two quick ones in the latter part of the second. Brooks ended the night with a goal (13) and two assists and now has 25 points, good for 6th in the league. The Islanders leading scorer and captain, Jens Meilleur, chipped in with two assists and now has 30 points which is good for second in the league. Carman's Aaaron Lewadniuk had two assists as well and continues to be the top point getter in the league with 31. Ryan Person got the win in net turning aside 22 of the 25 shots he faced.

The Islanders now have a record of 11-2-2 and their 24 points puts them 4 ahead of the second place Beavers and Warren Mercs. All three teams have played 15 games. The Islanders are back in action tomorrow night as they host Notre Dame.
