Three individuals are facing charges after a report of suspicious people in backyards in Portage la Prairie last week.

Just before midnight on Aug. 7, Portage la Prairie RCMP received a call reporting people in backyards in the 400 block of 1st Street NW.

Police say three people were seen going into residential yards in the area. Officers arrived and located the three suspects, and during the discussions with them, officers gained enough information to place two men under arrest. A female was arrested a short time later.

An 18-year-old male from Long Plain First Nation has been charged with trespassing and mischief under $5,000 and was released to appear in court at a later date. A 23-year-old male from Long Plain is charged with trespassing, mischief under $5,000, and possession of break-in tools. Police say he was remanded into custody and appeared in court on August 10.

A 37-year-old female from Alonsa is charged with trespassing, mischief under $5,000, and failing to comply with a release order. Police say she was remanded into custody and appeared in court on August 10.
